Distinguishing Features
• Flower-like hydroid, up to 150 mm high.
• Stem (hydrocaulus) not annulated or jointed.
• Tentacles in two whorls. Up to 40 outer tentacles (aboral), oral tentacles shorter and more numerous.
• Gonophores in racemes (bunches). Gonophores do not have apical processes. Have four radial canals.

Habitat
Attached to hard substrate. Depths of 10–4000 m.
Geographic Range
Arctic and both sides of the north Atlantic.
Fun Fact
This species is eastern by sea slugs so late in the season you often see the bare stems as the polyp has been eaten.
