Distinguishing Features
• External appearance (Fig. A, D): Thin, bright yellow, encrusting sponge. Surface on larger specimens with gelati-nous raised oscula and many ostia visible.
• Skeleton (Fig. E): The choanosomal skeleton is composed of ascending columns of tylostyles (around 10–15 spicules wide). Ectosomal skeleton formed of the projecting ends of these columns.
• Spicules (Fig. B): Tylostyles with a neat, pin-like head. 120-550 by 3–8 μm.

Habitat
Either forming patches on bedrock or encrusting shells, typically brachiopod shells.
Geographic Range
Common in the Bay of Fundy and on the coast of Nova Scotia.
Fun Fact
Investigation is underway to determine if this is a species new to science.
