Grand Manan NB, the Wolves NB, Western Islands NB, Back Bay NB, SCUBA-hand collection, scallop drag and hand collection on old weir pilings, seaweed, bedrock walls, decorator crab shell and floating docks, 1-15 m depth.
Distinguishing Features
• Form: grows in sheets or lobes, the colour is translucent and darkish grey, and the test is fragile with a gelatinous texture
• Siphons: conspicuous oral siphon
• Spicules: absent
