Distinguishing Features
• Largest specimens are 31 mm high.
• 50–100 tentacles.
• Colour variable, column can be dark brown, olive-green or gray-green.
• Column can be plain or have white or orange stripes.
• Tentacles translucent, gray, or light green.

Habitat
Many found in estuaries and sheltered waters on rocks, algae, and wharfs. Can survive very low salinities 2.5–5 PSU.
Geographic Range
Native to the northwest Pacific. Has now invaded many regions including Europe, New Zealand, Argentina, Malaysia, USA, and Canada.
Fun Fact
This anemone responds to environmental stresses such as low salinity and high temperatures by contracting and secreting a dense layer of mucus. It can then survive until conditions improve.
