#DebrisFree Fundy Student Art Contest

CONTEST RULES & ELIGIBILITY

  • Each entry must be composed of a piece of hand-drawn artwork, a complete entry form and a complete release form to be eligible. Entries with missing information do not count as a complete entry and will not be selected as a winner for the calendar.
     

  • All students must be in kindergarten through grade 12 and enrolled in public, private, or home school in the province of New Brunswick.
     

  • Students must work individually. Only one entry (artwork, release form, and entry form) per student. Multiple entries per person may result in disqualification.

ARTWORK & DESCRIPTION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. The artwork must be hand-drawn on a single sheet of 8.5” x 11” paper in landscape orientation.

  2. Use blank, white, non-glossy paper; do not laminate.

  3. Any art medium may be used (e.g., pencil crayons, paint, crayons, etc.); however, computer graphics will not be accepted. Artwork must be hand-drawn by the student.

  4. Artwork must be flat (e.g., no glued pieces or glitter) and able to be scanned.

  5. Avoid labelling debris items with any brand names in the artwork.

  6. A description of 75 words must accompany the artwork (space provided on the entry form).

  7. If dropping off entry in-person, label each entry on the back in pencil with student’s name, age, grade and school name.
     

Entry Form – There should be one entry form filled out per student. Please ensure that the entry form is filled out completely and legibly. All entries (entry form + artwork, and release form) must be submitted no later than Friday, March 18th, 2022, at 4pm. See below for how to submit your entry.

Competition Process – All entries will be collected by the Huntsman Marine Science Centre and 13 winners will be selected for their artwork to be printed into the calendar. Entries (artwork and description) will be judged on the creativity, artistic presentation, and relevancy to the theme. All entries must include a piece of artwork, a release form, and an entry form to be eligible for the contest.

ENTRY FORM

All complete entries (entry form, release form, and artwork) must be submitted online, in a coloured scanned PDF file to marinedebris@huntsmanmarine.ca, or to the front desk at the Huntsman Fundy Discovery Aquarium between Saturday, March 5 – Sunday, March 13 between 10am-5pm. Please email marinedebris@huntsmanmarine.ca for an alternate time for in-person drop off of artwork submissions.

PARENTAL CONSENT, WAIVER OF LIABILITY AND INDEMNIFICATION AGREEMENT

THIS IS A LEGAL RELEASE, IDENTIFICATION, ASSUMPTION OF RISK, WAIVER AND COVENANT NOT TO SUE AGREEMENT

Submission of this entry implies permission to use the student’s name (first name and last initial), grade, and school the student attends in materials announcing results of the contest, in the final printed calendar and in any use by the Huntsman Marine Science Centre and Huntsman Marine Science Centre #DebrisFreeFundy Initiative or any of our partners of the artwork in their publications, website and social media.

Permission is granted for the Child’s artwork, first name and last initial, grade and the name of the school the Child attends to be used by Huntsman and the #DebrisFreeFundy Initiative and partners. Permission is granted for the Child’s artwork, first name and last initial, grade and the name of the school the Child attends for use in unlimited education and outreach uses (including but not limited to, display of artwork on websites, on social media, in exhibits and brochures, as well as other education materials.) Permission is granted for the Child’s artwork, first name and last initial, grade and the name of the school the Child attends in perpetuity. I hereby warrant that I have the right to grant this license and that I have sole copyright ownership of the artwork in question.


I agree to allow the use of my child’s name (first name and last initial), artwork, grade and the name of the school the Child attends as authorized below, and therefore I relinquish compensation in any form for the uses outlined below.

Finally, I agree that the Huntsman and the #DebrisFreeFundy Initiative has, by securing my permission and additional information in this release, done everything possible to anticipate the various use(s) of my child’s name (first name and last initial), artwork, grade and the name of the school the Child attends and to ascertain my wishes regarding uses of my child’s name (first name and last initial), artwork, grade and the name of the school the Child attends. If there is any violation of this agreement by any party other than the Huntsman and the #DebrisFreeFundy Initiative, I agree not to hold Huntsman and/or the #DebrisFreeFundy Initiative responsible.
