The Aquarium

Valentine’s at the Aquarium

A presentation on ‘lobster love,’ a craft table where children can make Valentine’s Day cards for our animals, and Valentine’s gift packages are just some of the reasons to head on down to the aquarium on Saturday, February 11.

Kids will have a chance to create Valentine’s cards, which they can then, if they choose, deposit in special boxes located near some of the popular animals in the aquarium. Will Snorkel the harbour seal be more popular that his dad, Loki, or will Big Dee-Dee the lobster be the winner?

In addition, at 2:30 p.m., Genny Simard will share her knowledge of lobsters with an interesting and entertaining presentation on lobsters and lobster love. It’s full of amazing (and strange) facts about the region’s favourite crustacean, and visitors will get a chance to get up close and personal with one of the aquarium lobsters.

The gift shop will also be featuring some specially discounted Valentine’s Day gift packages, for the whole family.

March Break

The aquarium will be hosting a March Break program for students in grades 3 to 6. We will be running the programs Monday to Friday, with a cost of $25 per day (plus tax). The day runs from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with an optional later pickup.

There will be lots of daily activities, all with a marine life theme. You can download the application form right here, or a poster with more details.

Space is limited, so register today! The deadline for registration is February 27. You can also call 529-1200 for more information.

Also, the aquarium will be open from Monday to Friday during March Break, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

New road

There’s a new access road to the aquarium.
The road past the golf course is now closed to traffic. A new, unnamed road directly from Hwy 127 comes to the aquarium.

Winter opening:

We’re open Thursday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until April 30, then we go back to being open seven days a week.

The Fundy Discovery Aquarium opened its doors to the public Thursday, September 1. From October 1 to April 30, we will be open from Thursday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please note that visitors to the gift shop do not need admission to the aquarium.

However, groups that want to visit Monday to Wednesday are still able to book tours.

As some of the exhibits are not quite completed, and to thank the community for its patience and support, admission rates are currently reduced.

There is plenty to see – the harbour seals, Loki and Snorkel, are in their new home, there is a new touch pool, a skate touch pool, several tanks of fish and rare lobsters, interpretative pylons, a new gift shop (with a unique, fishy cash counter) and lots more.

You can contact the aquarium at (506) 529-1200 or email us.
